Meet the Team
Catherine Faught, Adviser
In her seventeenth year of teaching, Faught has been a yearbook adviser for fourteen of those years. Before coming to Boyd, she taught and advised in San Angelo, Plano and Richardson.
Growing up in West Texas, Faught graduated from Texas Tech University with a BBA in Marketing and began working in the oil and gas industry. She quickly realized that was not where she wanted to be, so she went back and received her alternative certification in special education. Her teaching career began in San Angelo as a math inclusion teacher at Central HS. Moving to DFW, she made a switch to business and journalism. She is a member of ILPC (Interscholastic League Press Conference), JEA (Journalism Education Association), NSPA (National Scholastic Press Association), and TAJE (Texas Association of Journalism Educators).
Faught is passionate about the work her students do in and outside of the classroom. She helps promote, support and defend the First Amendment and press freedom rights of student journalists in today's society. Faught is also passionate about photography and the power a photo has when capturing life's little moments.
